What is My Survival Story?

My Survival Story is an independent non-profit organisation based in Zurich, Switzerland which produces and shares stories of people affected by cancer to help others cope with the illness. To do so, we produce media content of any kind, and shared it with our audiences in online and offline formats.

Our Vision

We strive to help people affected by cancer to live better and longer through effective, authentic storytelling to transform attitudes, reduce stress, and identify coping mechanisms in the fight against cancer.

Mission Statement

We help patients and families cope with stress by sharing inspiring stories and authentic coping strategies of other cancer survivors from all around the world. We thereby empower people affected by cancer to change their mindset and activate their self-healing powers.

What we do

We are a team of media producers who tell stories using different formats such as videos, podcasts, online courses, workshops, keynotes and classic print media. Not every person that has a good story is a good storyteller. And this is where we come in - being professional storytellers and have personally been affected by cancer gives us a unique skillset and the necessary sensitivity to accomplish our mission. The stories we tell focus on the personal journey of our protagonists and not on their medical treatments or healthcare protocols. We highlight how people cope with their challenges, rather than which pill they had to take. We thoroughly research and select our stories to make sure we do not share fake news, controversial treatments or made-up stories. All our stories are professionally produced in close collaboration with the protagonists and reviewed by psycho-oncologists. We want to highlight that we are editorially independent in the selection and production of our stories.

What we don’t do

We do not produce advertisement, image movies, campaigns or stories as a contractors. As independent producers, we do not feature medications, treatments or any type of medical advice. Notwithstanding, it is possible that these topics are mentioned or discussed by our survivors as part of their personal journey.

Who we partner with

We collaborate with different types of partners who share our vision and want to support us in our mission. That includes, but is not limited to, governmental institutions, public television and radio stations, private media producers, health care services, companies, foundations, non-profit organisations, non-governmental organisations and private donors.
